Company

Flughaven started out to fill the gap in general aviation (GA) with the then fledgling Light Sports Aviation (LSA) market. Before the acceptance of the Sport Pilot category in the US, GA was on a sharp decline worldwide. It was becoming too expensive to maintain and operate single-engine piston aircraft. The costs were and still are prohibitive for recreational aviators operating certified GA aircraft. Being flying enthusiasts ourselves, we sought to bring the joy of flight to the masses by using LSA aircraft that utilise newer technology and therefore provide better value for money to all fliers. We also realised that we had to provide training for aspiring aviators, so we aligned ourselves with EAA Malaysia Flying Club to look after the needs of aspiring pilots who were going to flock to the new LSA category.

Flughaven has subsequently gone on to become dealers for the Jabiru range of aircrafts and engines, as well as the Skyranger brand. We are always on the lookout for opportunities to promote and expand our scope for aviation related business.

Nicholas Chong

Nicholas Chong
Nicholas is an 8 year veteran in the Financial Industry. He first learned to fly in 1999 while still at University in Melbourne, Australia, earning his PPL (A) there.

When returning home to Singapore, he converted to a Malaysian Pilots licence, where he encountered a shortage of available sorties due to a lack of aircrafts. Moreover, the prospect of flying 40 year old aircraft that look everyday of their age, did not excite him. Being exposed to Light Sports Aviation (LSA) and experimental aircraft through EAA, he decided to follow that path and bought a Jabiru 160, a composite sports aircraft.

His vision is to provide every flying enthusiast the opportunity to participate in Sports Aviation by providing affordable, up to date and exciting aircrafts with the best quality flight instruction programs in the industry.

Denis Lian

Denis is Singapore's most successful professional racing driver. In 2002, he was crowned Asian Formula 2000 Champion, which made him the first Singaporean to win an international motorsports title. For 2003 & 2004, he drove for TVR Malaysia and Lotus Cars Asia respectively, leading these manufacturers in various endurance racing events. In 2005, he became the first Singaporean to compete in Europe when he raced in the Formula Palmer Audi Euro Series. In 2006, he established his own Formula V6 Asia race team to compete in the region’s premier series. Later that year, he was given the honour to represent Singapore in A1GP, the World Cup of Motorsports. He raced for A1 Team Singapore in the first two rounds of the series, becoming Singapore’s first ever International Grand Prix driver.

What is lesser known about Denis, however, is that he has always had an aviation background. His father was a flight instructor with Singapore Airline, and saw fit that his son got behind the controls of an aircraft at every opportunity. He actually learned to fly before he even learned to drive, at the tender age of 9! He currently holds a private pilot’s license and is an aircraft owner as well.
